Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata Reportedly Turns Down £147m Move to China in Hope of Chelsea Transfer.

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has turned down a £147m offer from a Chinese Super League club in the hope of signing for Chelsea, according to Marca.

The 24-year-old forward, who has scored 20 goals in all competitions so far this season, was reportedly offered £29.4m per season over five years.

Despite his impressive goal scoring record, Morata has found it difficult to establish himself in the first team for Los Blancos this season.

Coach Zinedine Zidane has favoured French striker Karim Benzema, leading to speculation of a move away for Morata in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Chelsea are favourites to secure his signature, particularly with Diego Costa potentially set to leave the club.

Morata has recently spoken of his admiration for Blues manager Antonio Conte, who worked with the Spanish international while at Juventus.

“Conte is the manager who most ‘bet’ on me, without even ever having had me in his team,” Morata told the Guardian. “I’m very conscious of that: he bet on me for Juventus but left before I arrived; then he wanted me at Chelsea come what may. He knows me better than I could imagine, I’m sure, and that’s important: it motivates you to work hard, train well.

“I feel indebted to him because he’s the coach that most trusted in me, most wanted me, who made me feel I could perform at the highest level. And yet I’ve never had the fortune to actually work with him. I’m sure sooner or later I will."
